Skiing to the poconos Mountains

Started off early morning making some hot parathas for breakfast for the boys. Later in the aternoon a couple of us went to get the minivan for our travel to Pennsylvania- The icy mountains.

When we saw the car (Kia Sedona), we just fell in love with it. It was love at first sight. A beautiful minivan. I dont like to call it a minivan, just wanna call it my precious.

We all boarded precious around 2pm with lots of chips, sandwiches, canada dry for the thirsty boys and once we were on I-287, I ripped the road. riiipppppppp....and the road burnt. Precious leaving a fire trail behind. I was at 100 mph and the gang did not feel it at all. They kept joking their sarcastic, wet and dry jokes, with often requests coming from the behind about changing the a/c temperatures and change of music. I didnt care for their whimps and fancies. My co-driver (Swap) took care of it. All I did was playing and tickling my precious.

We took a lot of pictures on the way.

When we were on I-80 we misssed a turn for the Scenic Overview on the mountains. I advise you next time take that turn and you will enjoy beautiful pictures and you will behold the hand made of the LORD.

After just crossing over the borders of Penn State we made one stop for refueling and went on to Camelback ski area.

He found a spot for parking after going around in circles for long time and parked (3:21pm) and ate all that we got along. We unloaded our gear, dressed up warmly, secured my precious and went on to get the Tickets.

We took tickets for
1. Ski gear
2. Lift to the mountains and other slopes
3. Beginner lessons

I suggest as a first timer only take tickets for 1 and 3. Coz as beginners to see the big slopes coming down from the mountains it gives you a scary feeling. In other words (phat jathi hai - now dont ask what).

We went on to get out ski gear. Ski shoes, slides and sticks. Once we wore the shoes, we were all walking so funny as if something was stuck up our *ss

The shoes are so damn tight, sturdy and hard that it makes your foot, ankle and shin as one part.

Get change along with you. Reqd for opening and closing your lockers. We secured our cameras, mobiles and shoes in the lockers and went on to the bunny slope for skiing.

All of us dropped like potatoes on the snow and kept falling and falling. Some of us fell in such a way, that we were locked down and we could not move till others came along and also fell on us tryig to stop themselves from skiding and then both helping each other to get up...lol.....what a sight.

We made two other friends, both Latino girls i guess and that gave the boys more impetus to take their skiing more seriously.

Characteristics of the boys skiing:
Pranil, would always do the reverse sweep and could never go straight. He would come skiing down the slope and suddenly he would sweep in a 270 degree turn without he knowing how it is done.
Swap, would always turn or sway to the left and could never go straight or right.
Joe would ski walk. Somehow his ski would not ski, so he would come down the bunny slope walking with his ski.
Manoj, whenever he came down he only fell. There was only 1 time in all his attempts were he managed not to fall. Recorded in a video.
Nirav, would come down the slope at 1 mile per hour speed ....lol....even the 2nd graders zooming past him would not give him a complex.
The perfect skiier was me. (ofcourse i wont be writing about myself here.)

We then took a lot of pictures at the end of our ski day (9:15pm) and headed back home by 10pm.

Perfect day!!

Precious got us home safe and sound. We were all tired and and slept peacfully that night with beautiful memories and hoping to go again next time and try the lifts to the higher slopes in the Icy mountains of Pennsylvania!!!!

Please leave comments if you have had any skiing experiences or if you want to know anything more. I got discount passes (2008) for the next group that wants to go skiing.

Chk out the pictures as well!
